It’s a pretty big deal when you make a decision to change your life. To go from being a couch potato watching life pass by from the sidelines to being fully engaged in life and No Longer a Bystander, is not an easy task. What I’ve discovered is it is not a ‘one and done’ decision. And as much as I’d like to say, “I DID IT”, I have to be honest and say, “I do it sometimes.” It is my life goal.
It is my intention to be fully engaged in life but it is still a struggle to get there.
I battle within myself every single day to make choices that support my goal. Sometimes I make the right choice and other times I do not. There are days I go to my office and complete my task list. Other times, I binge watch on Netflix, feeling guilty and unfulfilled for allowing myself to be distracted and not staying focused on my dream.
There is an old adage which says, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” I believe this to be true. I have found it true in my own life. While this phrase is usually used in religious circles to speak to our spiritual lives, I believe this concept fits many of life’s situations.
Now, I’m not saying that if I binge watch Netflix, I am going to hell
What I am saying is that if I make the choice to watch TV instead of writing, I will not fulfill my goal.
As I said earlier, it is my intention to be fully engaged in life. But if I don’t take action toward that intention, it remains unfulfilled and unfulfilling. Tony Robbins talks about taking massive action. Without taking action, our idea or desire is just that, an idea. By taking massive action, we interrupt the pattern of inactivity and our desire, dream, goal or intention becomes a reality.
Every time we take massive action toward a goal, we are No Longer Bystanders!
